Hurricane Relief & Resources

Assist with Relief Projects & Aid | View Resources

Now that Hurricane Ida has passed and many of us are turning to recovery and rebuild, some are still in rescue mode. We want to ensure that we are here for the trucking community in any capacity possible. Information sharing is key to communicating during a disaster. If you have information, you feel would be helpful for the trucking community, please send it to renee@lmta.la for distribution.

If you have issues that you are having problems resolving, please reach out to Renee Amar renee@lmta.la or cell (225) 287-0117 with those issues. We have been in constant contact with the Governor’s office and DOTD, as well as our national partners the American Trucking Association and other federal agencies.

Emergency Declarations Q&A with FMCSA | Watch Now

Joey House (FMCSA) and the LMTA hosted an open Q&A, September 9 at 10:00 a.m. to answer any questions that truckers may have regarding the emergency declaration for Hurricane Ida and COVID-19.

We touched on what requirements are waived or eased during a disaster as well as what trucking companies have to do to abide by the rules and regulations on the state and federal level.

ATA RELIEF FUND

From the ATA (American Trucking Association): Your help is needed! With Hurricane Ida making landfall in Louisiana and continuing to cause damage across the Gulf Coast with wind gusts well exceeding Category 5, we are asking our trucking family to not only keep those affected in your thoughts and prayers, but also to help ATA and our Trucking Cares Foundation coordinate relief efforts, either through cash donations, relief supplies or donated transportation. We are working closely with the Louisiana Motor Transport Association and Mississippi Trucking Association, and will be sending ATA’s trucks with much needed supplies as soon as cleared to do so. We are also working with the American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) coordinating donated transportation.

If you are able to donate to ATA’s efforts to help those affected in Louisiana and Mississippi, please let us know. You can make a financial donation through Trucking Moves America Forward at www.trucking.org/idarelief. We will coordinate efforts on behalf of our ATA membership. In addition, our America’s Road Team Captains are poised to represent the industry in safely delivering these goods. Please contact Elisabeth Barna, at ebarna@trucking.org or 202-420-8972 should you have any questions.
